Sustainability Rating Systems for Cities

Bioregional North America was interested in understanding how Ottawa ranked as sustainable city against various standards (ie. ISO 37120:2014, STAR Communities, One Planet Regions, Corporate Knights), as well as developing a better understanding of the differences among the rating systems. Bioregional North America was match with and OETN Advisor and a Carleton University Student. The student delivered a brief report to Bioregional North America.

The research provided in the report improved the ability of sustainability professionals to compare performance and rating-based approaches for municipal-scale sustainability. The report also highlighted areas of improvement in the City of Ottawa’s environmental performance.
