Waterlinks to Pinecrest Creek: Lessons For Community Engagement for Stormwater Management
The objectives of this project were to evaluate the 2000-2001 WaterLinks to Pinecrest lot-level stormwater management operation in the City of Ottawa, and identify program management practices that would increase community participation in lot-level stormwater management planning. This project involved the City of Ottawa’s Planning & Growth Management, Infrastructure Policy Unit as the community partner, Carleton University students as the research team, and Liz Lefrancois as the advisor. The research team prepared a report and delivered a presentation to City of Ottawa staff. Despite constraints on research methods related to significant time lapse, staff felt that the report met the objectives of the project and provided valuable additional research on characteristics of successful lot-level stormwater management campaigns.
Advisor: Liz Lefrancois, retired senior policy advisor on environmental outreach/engagement
Research Team: Graduate students in a course in community-based research on food and environmental policy, with professor Peter Andrée (Department of Political Science)
