Community Based Stream Monitoring
With the help of the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority and advisor, John Karau, 3 Carleton University students compared existing, community-based water monitoring programs in Ottawa. The goal was to determine how to adapt these programs to improve watershed monitoring data consistency and comparability, and to increase the value of overall watershed water monitoring and adaptive management programs. The research team produced a paper which summarized current initiatives and provided recommendations for program improvement. The report provided a good overview of current initiatives, which is useful as a foundation for further planning.
